The Reno Tournament captured Gerald K. "Jerry" Moore's officiating heart and soul from the beginning. He laced up his signature boxing shoes and started slapping mats in Reno in 1997, the second year after the Tournament of Champions launch. He kept coming back for 21 consecutive years. About the "Heritage" Award

Ross Aguiar, Co-Founder, "Toughest Tournament in the USA"
“... HERITAGE IS A TERM THAT we typically use when describing something like a way of life that is passed down from generation to generation. It can be an heirloom, tradition, philosophy, teaching or really anything that can be passed down to others.
Each year the Reno Tournament of Champions honors someone who gives back to their community through the sport of wrestling.
Wrestling teaches discipline, respect, compromised work ethic and promotes a tradition of excellence passed down from generation to generation.
. Those that are involved in wrestling and have lived through the blood, sweat, tears whether competing or watching a child or friend compete, has a good understanding of the hard work and dedication it takes to compete at a high level. Some can even say that it’s a part of their heritage to compete or be involved in wrestling....”
Reprinted from the Heritage Award biography of the late Ross Aguiar Reno Tournament of Champions co-founder. Aguiar was honored with the Heritage Award posthumously in 2015.

ON ETERNAL PATROL

Gerald K. "Jerry" Moore, 1937 - 2019

JERRY, YOU'RE A KEEPER (OBITUARY)
Jerry loved living life rocking, in a cabin, somewhere along the Arkansas River. This spot was a refuge, every year, in the fall. Sadly, Jerry was unable to commandeer this rocking spot this year. On October 22 he took on his new assignment, "Eternal Patrol," a submariner's after-life mission.

Jerry led a life of positive impact. He had a natural ability to see and develop talent everywhere. He expressed gratitude to everyone for everything. So, a thank you to you, Jerry. "Thank you for your childlike people-loving spirit that shone through your beautiful baby blues, it's you we appreciate."
"Thank you for all you did, your inspiration and support - life gifts thoughtfully and generously shared. We love you, forever."
~ October 2019 ~
